I think people expect too much from franchises like this. Having some exceptional, well made, and highly entertaining originals like the first three Star Wars films or the LotR trilogy makes them special. It’s near impossible to recreate that magic with follow ups. Some are going to be good, others are going to suffer from unfair comparisons. Enjoy them for what they are, or don’t enjoy them if they disappoint. No biggie.
Tbh the mediocrity of most of the Disney serials was no worse than the mediocrity of the prequels, nor the sequels. The Acolyte was a good de facto miniseries, Andor was purposefully niche, the first season of Mando was a good time, Kenobi did a decent job, Bad Batch was fantastic.
For my money that's better than the awful-worse-wtf is this of the prequel trilogy or the decent-decent-nope not even once of the sequels.
There is plenty of inspiration for more visual content and the logistics behind making that aren't that important.
Werner Hertzog was sitting there, and no one thought 'hey, we've got all this money, let's make the greatest version of this we can, with one of the greatest film makers'?
